About the team
Sheila Conlin is the Executive Producer of this documentary. She has more than 30 years of experience in television news. Her start was as a TV and Radio reporter and photographer in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She worked in a number of markets where she produced newscasts, managed special projects and served as a News Director in local news. For the past 17 years, she has been working as a senior producer for a branch of NBC News in Washington, DC. But she is working on THIS project outside of her job with NBC N
Tracy Baumgardner has worked as a documentary editor for the past two decades. She was the masterful editor who pulled this story together. She also cuts stories of REAL housewives, TRUE Criminals and WILD animals - be they fur, fin or feather. Her films have landed on BRAVO, PBS, National Geographic, the History Channel and Discovery. She's received Emmy nominations, Cine Gold Eagles as well as top awards at film festivals.
Barbara Meagher is the Managing Editor on this film. She is also an associate professor of journalism at the University of Rhode Island. She began teaching after 21-years as a television news reporter and anchor. During her tenure at WLNE-TV, Providence, RI, she developed a specialty investigating government spending in the ongoing series, “You Paid for It!” Her reporting led to a New England Emmy nomination for Individual Achievement.
She holds an M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the Boston University College of Communication and a B.A. in Special and Elementary Education from Boston College.
Melissa Feld is a crowdfunding manager on this project. She is also a principal at PowerBase Associates, providing project management and political action committee (PAC) consulting to public affairs firms and private sector clients.
As a campaign veteran, Melissa has managed many political and non-political campaigns. Melissa served as a senior staff member for three leading senators, as Director of Administration ensuring top-level customer care for all constituents.
Gabby Sizemore (on left) and Jenna Scardino (on right) are Associate Producers on this project – helping out with the shoot on their home turf, Long Island, New York, where the Curvy Girls convention was held in June 2014.
Gabby is a junior at The University of Rhode Island hoping to pursue a career in photojournalism.
Jenna is going into her senior year at Hofstra University where she is studying Television and Video. She does it all in her curriculum: on camera work, video editing, producing films and radio engineering.
Christie Smith is part of the crowdfunding team on this project. She is a seasoned videotape editor. In the past decade, she has worked in Washington, DC for national and international news clients including NBC News. She has also edited projects for a number of federal government agencies including the Department of Defense.
Andrew B. Dawson is a crowdfunding strategist on this project. He is also an account executive, social media strategist, and digital property consultant on Susan Davis International's communications team. Mr. Dawson has experience in web management including expertise in Google Analytics review and analysis.
Kimberly Alvarado is a crowd-funding strategist on this project. She is also working on her master’s degree in journalism at Georgetown University. Kimberly has experience in public relations, video editing, reporting and social media. Ms. Alvarado has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore in Corporate Communications.
